Grand Rapids Trappist Ales

In order to be called `Trappist' the beers must be made in a brewery controlled and occupied by monks of the strictest Benedictine order - the Trappists.

Chimay Grand Reserve (750 ml) – 9.0% abv
This beer offers fresh yeast with a light, flowery rose touch, revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt.

Orval – 6.9% abv
An intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process.  98 points RB

Rochefort 8 – 9.2% abv
Dark brown colored body with a off white head a nice fruity aroma a nice fruity caramel taste and a nice average bitter fruity alcoholic finish. 100 points RB

Rochefort 10 - 11.2% abv
Pours a dark black-brown with a dense but thin head. Aroma isn’t particularly strong, but very good... lots of dark fruits. Taste is more of the same, with some cola and chocolate rounding it out. 100 points RB

A reddish brown trappist ale, malty and fruit, featuring a 3 week secondary fermentation. 98 Points RB

A strong, dry and spicy trappist ale. The product of a secondary fermentation lasting 5 weeks. 96 Points RB
